Search Is On For 2011 Bridge Day Poster Contest

Bridge Day has always been more than just a day for “jumping off the bridge”. It is a day where people come together to celebrate all that West Virginia has to offer. It is listed as one of the top 100 fairs and festivals in the United States, and in 2005, the bridge became a landmark symbol, as it was stamped onto the back of the West Virginia state quarter and distributed for all the world to see.
Also in 2005, another tradition began as we launched our “Bridge Day Poster” contest. Since that time we have asked that West Virginia artists submit a poster design commemorating the New River Gorge Bridge and Bridge Day. This collectable series of numbered, limited edition posters has become a popular item for Bridge Day.
What’s in it for the artist? A chance to be designated as “Bridge Day’s Featured West Virginia Artist “. Along with this designation, the artist will be featured in the Official Bridge Day booth at the entrance to the south side of the Bridge, where they will sign posters, as well as have the opportunity to sell their additional artwork.
How it works:
Entries will be submitted via Facebook upload to the Bridge Day fan page. For those who wish to submit but don’t have a Facebook account or internet access, entries may be dropped off at the New River Gorge CVB office. Those entries will be photographed and uploaded to Facebook.
Those who wish to enter will have until midnight on Friday, September 2 to make their submission. Voting will take place Monday, September 5 through midnight on Friday, September 9. The winner will be announced on Monday, September 12. Only 1 entry per person.
Notes:
- The winning Artist will be "Bridge Day's Featured West Virginia artist". They will be in the Official Bridge Day booth autographing posters and will be able to sell any of their other artwork.
- All original artwork will become the property of Fayette County Chamber of Commerce; the Chamber will own the design.
