Why you come each year:To see old friends, meet new ones, and interact with the local community in a productive manner that is conducive to future "legal" base events. Many of my "old friends" are actually Fayetteville locals who I have grown to know over my 10 years attending the event and look forward to seeing every year. Is the BASE coordinator (me) doing a good job or not?: The best I have seen at the event and with few exceptions, the incremental advancement in safety and event production has meshed together to create the largest event of its kind with a safety record that is unprecedented and jump experience unrivaled for an object of this type. What makes Bridge Day special to you?: Waking up at 5:00 a.m. in the parking lot near the bridge and watching the sun (or not) rise over the area. The fog and dew starting to lift as we stroll out over the bridge while the crowd starts to build in eager anticipation of what the day will hold, finally looking down to see the unique blend of manmade engineering genius with natures beauty that is not "obnoxious at all" but blends into the surroundings to become part of the natural beauty of the area. The Visuals on the exit ramp are spectacular as well; Looking out over the crowd from up on the exit ramp, then out at the horizon to see the foliage and natural splendor in West Virginia, then hearing the roar of the crowd as we prepare to jump. And of course celebrating the days events with friends, family, and local officials at the Holiday in that evening. What would I change?: Given the spectualar nature of the area and time and money spent to go to West Virginia it sure would be nice to be able to jump there more often and for longer periods of time much like the event in Colorado (GoFast Games. Twin Falls, ID, etc)

A lot of people experience the New River Gorge in about 30 seconds from their car window, a tragedy no doubt. Bridge Day gives you a once-a-year opportunity to take in the panoramic beauty in it’s entirety. The view is astounding and festival is loads of fun. I'll definitely be back! (Though unfortunately not this year since one of our friends is getting married. We tried to tell him they should do it on the bridge, but he won't listen)
